I just started reading Tom's book today and already I am excited about the raw truth he puts forth in this manuscript. His writing is straightforward, easy to comprehend truth. One important fact he states is that no one asks why tongues was important in bringing revival in Acts. THAT is a very important question that ALL Christians should be asking. If you're interested in knowing more, and truth, about the wonder-full gift of tongues or if you are searching for answers as to is it of YHVH and why then I encourage you to read this book. Holy Spirit gave me this precious gift in 2000 when i was alone in prayer, seeking His gifts, and after reading Tom's book i was still able to learn more! I was told by Holy Spirit how powerful the gift of tongues is, but still didn't know why, and then He had me read Tom's book! This is a must read, whether you speak in tongues or not!
Ive been reading Stammering Lips, I'M very impressed and I completely recommend it. The book is laid out and written well, he gives a great explanation of tongues and why we should use this precious and wonderful gift. He shows biblical scripture along with his writings to help you understand the gift of tongues. Great book, worth the read, you wont be sorry!!
Paul said that he thanked God he spoke with other tongues more than all of them. This is a strong encouragement to value and seek heartily this privilege and inherent organic spiritual working within. That which most profits us is God within us, and working together with him, and this interaction with the spirit of God is rich and good, and to be treasured and sought.
Tom's book presents most of the information that attends the subject from the New Testament, and for weighing options and considering pros and cons, should be all one needs. However, most importantly, the value of being so equipped will prove to be immense in the lives of all who find it, and you should be encouraged that whatever way you come to it, you would do well to be zealous to come to it. Dig up this pearl of great price for yourself.
This has been the most comprehensive book I have read about the significance and the power of being released in the gift of tongues. Tom and Krista Shirley share from personal experience the lies told to them about this gift and how they changed their thinking about it. They give practical uses of tongues and even clarify the scriptures that mention tongues. At the end of the book is an activation prayer to be released into the gift of Stammering Lips. I highly recommend this book, such an enlightening read!

The clarity Tom brings as so impacting. Like Tom, I was dipped in unbelief by the "Christian" church. When I was empowered and began to speak in tongues it changed my life in such a powerful way that I was left searching for answers. My big question was why was something so powerful treated with such contempt by the fellowship of my past?
If you are searching and have found this book, it will grow your hunger.
If you are freshly operating in this wonderful gift, let this book solidify your purpose for living.
Shirley is one of the first to give a more Scriptually-sound case for Tongues in this era of the Body. So many others just assume their case based on their presumption of their own doctrines. For me, Shirley makes his case for Tongues today, through Scriptural context, in a more logical and satisfying approach.
4 stars instead of 5? Despite his insistence that there was not enough purpose to justify going into more depth concerning the doctrine of cessationism today, as far as he does go, he does presents a better case than I've seen with so many others who simply ignore or gloss over this teaching. This works to his advantage. But, his presentation is still too short to be of certain help.
Therefore, I would suggest a more in-depth definition and presentation of the history of cessationism & how this doctrine has misled so much of the Church for so many centuries. I feel certain, many in the Body don't know why they believe what they do or even care that they don't move in Tongues today. Knowing the historical roots & fruits of cessationism might go a long way in helping to dispel this error and why it matters. It is likely, most in the non-tongues-speaking Body are ignorant that there is such a doctrine or that they have been so adversely affected by it. More certainly, they don't know they can or should be flowing in Tongues today. Despite this lack of specifically defining the anti-Tongues movement, his presentation of the Scriptural proof justifying Tongues today is well made.
Read this book today and prayerfully consider what is presented here while carefully referencing your Bible every step of the way. As a result, I trust your life will be changed by the Scriptures & Shirley's evidence presented here and you will become in favour of Tongues today.
It is one of the most miss understood gifts and so many people have arguments over this gift. Today we have a person that struggled with this gift and who has perfected it in his own life, who has gone before us, shed light on the gift. if you don't have the gift, if your gift is a struggle for you, or you have an issue with the gift of tongues, this book was written with a tender heart for you.
I commend you to it. It will be worth your time invested.
